Sir Humphry Davy (1778-1829) was a hugely influential chemist, inventor, and public lecturer who is recognised as one of the first professional scientists. This 1836 memoir by his brother John Davy makes use of family letters and personal papers to convey Sir Humphry's character as well as scientific achievements.
