This work explores the problem of Jewish identity in the early Soviet period by examining the short career of Eduard Bagritskii, a Russian-Jewish poet. The book investigates what it meant to be both Russian and Jewish, and looks at why Bagritskii became the target of anti-Semitic attacks.
