Originally published in three parts between 1916 and 1919, this work by the palaeontologist Arthur Smith Woodward (1864-1944) provides the most extensive overview of the ichthyofauna of the Purbeck and Wealden formations in southern England. Woodward describes and illustrates some thirty genera of ray-finned, lobe-finned, and cartilaginous fishes.
